SLUMBERJACK Opening For Troyboi At Brooklyn Steel

151202-SLUMBERJACK-SYDNEY-094-1000x600This Friday, October 6th, SLUMBERJACK is opening for Troyboi at Brooklyn Steel. Don’t really know much about SLUMBERJACK? Let us break it down for you.

SLUMBERJACK is a live electronic duo who play keys, synth pads, drums and more during their cinematic performance. Both artists were born in southeast Asia (Morgan in Borneo and Fletcher in Vietnam), but now they are based in one of the most secluded major cities on earth,  Perth, Australia.
Musically, Morgan is a classically trained pianist and former world-music artist. Fletcher taught himself to make electronic music at age 11, so coming together the guys are quite unique in the way they look at music. Morgan is more cinematic and thinking in a world view, while Fletcher thinks more beat driven and for the dance floor. Morgan also has a condition called “Synesthesia” where by he sees sounds as colors. He’s also color blind which makes this especially interesting to have such a condition.

Last year SLUMBERJACK broke out into the limelight with the release of singles “Open Fire” feat. Daniel Johns and “RA” which peaked at #3 on the iTunes Electronic Chart. They also had performances at festivals including Lollapalooza, Electric Forest and HARD Summer, and a Guest Mix for Diplo & Friends. The duo has amassed over 40 million streams across platforms and their music has been supported by artists including Skrillex, Diplo and Porter Robinson.

This past year, SLUMBERJACK released their EP Fracture on Mad Decent, which included hit singles “Afraid, Unafraid” and the title track “Fracture”. Check out the EP below and click here to see what their stage set up looks like.
