Review: A-Trak at Marquee NY 3/21/2015

If you’re from New York and you have never seen A-trak live, their must be something wrong with you. This past Saturday A-trak played at one of the best clubs in New York and he brought tons of the fire he still had left in him from SXSW in Austin. It was a long night, that started with a massive line in front of  Marquee, but thanks to their amazing employees I was in there just in time for A-trak to come on. As a huge Fool’s Gold fan, it was one of the best nights for me to be at Marquee because I was in the presence of half of the Fool’s Gold family.

Walking in, I saw a reflection of a Canadian dude on unique Marquee sign, and I danced in to A-trak’s song “PUSH” ft Andrew Wyatt lead singer from Mike Snow. Unlike any other night at Marquee I was super stoked because I knew that A-trak was going to play TONS of hip-hop/rap/electronic/funk, and the variety of tracks would just kept piling up. From Crystal Waters, “Gypsy Woman” to Jack U’s (7-11) remix, and of course he added alittle bit of flavor by throwing in some Duck Sauce tracks, my personal favorite “aNYway”

If you are attending any one of A-trak’s sets be prepared to see some familiar New Yorkers. These 2 weren’t specifficaly DJ artists, but they are artists none the less. The infamous Kirill made an appearance, a very well known New York photographer who has probably caught your sister or girlfriend on camera at their finest hour (lol) . Another appearance by one the best underground photographer’s LASTSUSPECT, who had toured with A-trak and is infamous for some of the courages angles he shoot’s his photos and of course the sharp and vibrant images he creates. If you’re an asspiring photographer and want see some amazing work, LASTSUSPECT is your guy. Check out his work HERE

What makes an A-trak show different then any other Dj’s you see at Marquee? He was on the 1s and 2s scrathing like he’s been doing it since he was alittle boy. Actually it is a true story, A-trak has been scratching since he was a kid, and with his hard work and dedication, he was one of the youngest  DMC World Champion, he toured with Kanye West, and started his own label called Fools Gold along with Nick Catchdubs, and art director Dust La Rock (RIP). Today A-trak continues to be the amazing musician he is today and the label Fools Gold is continuously on the rise. It was an incredible night, with an amazing performance, and for anyone who missed it, you are a Fool.
