Deep and tech house is finally making its way out of the city and moving into a new ‘house’ just over the bridge in Roselle, NJ at Mister East nightclub in Union county. While many New Yorkers are finally catching on to the name and sexy Miami style vibe at Mister East, now they have another reason to get out of the city for the night and enjoy some quality house music at an upscale, sophisticated venue that gives the usual city hot spots a run for their money.
Last month, Mister East kicked off their monthly series, “Deeper Side of M.E.” on Thursday, April 18th with Martin Buttrich. This month, the featured artist was Luca Bacchetti on Thursday, May 23rd. In addition, the club has already announced the next event on Thursday, June 27th with Audiofly.
Since I had the pleasure of attending both of the first two events, let me paint the picture of why this monthly series is something you need to definitely mark on your nightlife calendar. First of all, if you still haven’t had the opportunity to party at Mister East, that, in and of itself, is why you need to go check it out. The club is really unique and feels much more like Vegas or Miami than it does north Jersey, by far. There are great photos of the venue on their Facebook page, so definitely go check some of them out and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
For this particular series, the club was dark with long, black fabric hanging from the massive cathedral ceiling in a few places around the room. The DJ booth was relocated down on the dance floor, making it feel much more intimate with the artist, with the upstairs VIP balcony closed. Lastly, the tickets for these events were only $15, and they offered a two for $300 Belvedere vodka special. And the best part, besides the music, is the “dress to dance” dress code, allowing casual attire to create a much more laidback vibe, which I absolutely loved.
Both events had a great turn out in my opinion, especially for a Thursday night when people had work in the morning. By midnight the dance floor was filled with people enjoying the deep and tech house sounds of the night. A few times a circle formed and a few great dancers stepped in to show off their best moves. On each side of the floor were two raised black platforms for the dancers, who also showed off some visually stimulating moves. Bottom line… the entire mood of these nights was really dope because the people came out for the right reason– the music of unique deep house music producers we don’t get to enjoy in the tri-state area very much (if at all).
I really think it’s great that Mister East created this innovative series just as they wrapped up their debut season. That’s right, the club only launched in September of 2012, only eight months ago. Their Saturday night house music nights are one of the most talked about parties in the nightlife industry with their phenomenal resident DJ Sevag, as well as hosting many popular names in dance music such as Roger Sanchez, Fehrplay, Deniz Koyu, Junior Sanchez, Gina Turner, Manufactured Superstars, and more.
I look forward to the next event on June 27th with Audiofly, and I hope to see you there ready to get deep with EDMNYC and M.E.!
