Preview: Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE, June 21-23 by Jon Sorrentino

If you’re anything like us here at EDMNYC, your life consists of many countdowns, from release dates, to show nights, to festivals openings. As warm weather approaches and festivals begin to flourish all over the U.S., you could image how many countdowns we have. One festival however that has caught the eye of many east coast music supporters is Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware.

The Firefly Music Festival was first held in July of 2012 and looks to make a very anticipated return in June of 2013. The festival is held at the beautiful Woodlands, an 87-acre festival ground in Dover, Delaware where some of the most nationally known musical acts will perform on several stages spread-out through the festival grounds. The line-up consist of musical legends such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Pretty and the Heartbreakers, more recent favorites such as Foster the People, Passion Pit, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Kendrick Lamar, Dragonette and many many more.

The line-up even includes some electric influenced acts such as Zedd, Manufactured Superstars, Calvin Harris, and Big Gigantic. Firefly really offers a wide spectrum of music to be heard, and is sure to have something for everyone to enjoy. On top of a killer line-up, the festival offers camping on the festival grounds. This may sounds a little silly, but this feature really brings a lot to the experience.

If you were at Camp Bisco in 2012 and read our review from that event, the community is always awesome! Nothing but love all around and I have to say I made some really good friends that I will be reuniting with very soon! If setting up a tent however is really not your forte and may turn you off a little, don’t fret, it gets better. Firefly is offering luxury camping arrangements called glamping. Glamping is the equivalent to a luxury hotel outdoors. This feature will offer your own private air-conditioned safari tent located just mere steps from the festival entrance. Also included is the option for two twin beds or one queen sized bed, indoor and outdoor furniture, access to private showers, access to a private air-condition glamping lounge that will have a breakfast buffest, bar, late-night snacks, and lounge seating. Additionally you will receive free shuttle service to on-site general store, food trucks, charging stations, and entertainment.

Firefly has really brought out all the bells and whistles for those looking to enhance the festival experience. The festival grounds will also provide their attendants with premium food and drink outlets such as the ‘The Brewery’ presented by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, ‘The Vineyard’ which will offer an on-site wine bar offering a variety of local wines and also promised a well-rounded dining experience which will look to also recognize eaters who are vegan or vegetarian. If you’re looking to take a break from the music during the day to give your ears a break there will be plenty of activities to do on the premise as well. Firefly will have their own Arcade with vintage games to be played, Toms style your sole which will allow you to customize your own personal shoes, Hammock Hangouts which will give you time to get off your feet, and something that you’ll need to wait till the sun dies down a little to really appreciate, ‘The Pathway’.

Overall we are highly anticipating that Firefly Music Festival will surely be one that leaves it mark and really makes an impact on the east coast music festival scene. Four days of camping, three days of amazing music, plenty of food and drink to be spread around, and now all they need is you! Tickets are all almost sold out, they are on their last level of standard tickets so make sure you head over to, the only place to receive your official tickets!
