Preview: Identity Festival in Philadelphia 7-29-12 by Jon Sorrentino

Are you enjoying your summer of EDM? Have you been to events such as EDCNY, Governors Island, Camp Bisco and are asking yourself now, what’s next? Well don’t fear because there’s plenty of raving still to be had this summer! Coming up next weekend in Philly is the ever-growing Identity Festival!  Identity Festival is a touring concert with an explosive line up of some of the most talented singers/producers/DJs in EDM.  Making stops in 15 states all over the U.S. currently, Identity is making some serious noise! If you don’t believe us check out their Facebook page to see tons of photos from the tour and comments from fans as well!

The lineup for Identity’s Philadelphia pit stop looks solid, complete with the legend himself, Eric Prydz! Along with Mr. Prydz is the huge Russian talent, Arty, and the boy genius Madeon, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. On top of those three superstars, you have Eva Simons who just released the huge electro track with Nicky Romero ‘I Don’t Like You’, Showtek who have their hands on every new track—collaborating with the likes of Tiesto, Hardwell, Bassjackers, and many more. Le Castle Vania, who were in last year’s ID tour, and lastly, Excision, and Noisia, whose names get a lot of buzz on the Rutgers campus.

However with such a great lineup, there are always people you want to see the most, and that is definitely headliner, Eric Prydz! Most people are aware that he has a fear of flying, and hasn’t been to the US in many years. To miss him would seriously be like stabbing a dagger through our hearts! His 2004 smash, “Call on Me” brings back many memories for us all. Eric Prydz really started the love of dance music for most of us. Jon (AKA DJ Rocketpants) still plays that track at local gigs, and people still can’t get enough of it. His latest tune, “Allein”, is sure to make every househead fall in love with him… if they aren’t huge fans already. This set will be an incredible ending to the day—mark our words!

Besides Mr. Prydz, Arty is another must-see. Arty has really been making an impact in this scene. He just released his remix of Zedd’s ‘Spectrum’ on top of his new track ‘When I See You’, which was recently heard on Sebastian Ingrosso’s Refune Radio podcast. Another young talent that has been making some big splashes is Madeon. The Ableton genius gives us the chills while he presses those buttons!

ID Fest is great because we get exposure to some other artists as well. Eva Simons talks about her shows on Twitter, and they sound like a great time, so we’re really excited to see her live. Plus, her singing “Take Over Control” with a few thousand people should be an awesome experience. Le Castle Vania, has us pumped for a great performance as well. Although we’re not familiar with The Eye, Audrey Napoleon, or Stephan Jacobs, we’re about to be!

Showtek, a name that many DJ/Producers have been supporting recently, should rock the house also! His latest banger with Tiesto, “Hell Yeah!” is going to put a bigger crack in the Liberty Bell for sure. We can also expect to hear his ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ (Tiesto, Angger Dimas & Showtek) collaboration tracks like “We Tell” and “We Rock”. If you love Electro House, this is the DJ to check out. We’re pretty excited about this guy!

Identity Fest, although just one day, is sure to leave its mark in The City of Brotherly Love next Sunday! EDMNYC is proud to provide coverage for this festival for the second year in a row. Keep your eyes open for Rocketpants who will be on photo duty. Wear something funky and smile for his camera. Swedeheart will be on hand to take notes, talk to fans, and write a complete review of the day. We look forward to seeing you there!
