Preview: Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano at LAVO, NYC 06/30/11

Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano are an energetic Dutch duo who match soulful vocals with deep and funky house. When not performing all around the globe, they can be found in their Amsterdam studio coming up with one dance floor destroyer after another. Their 2008 debut tracks include “Pina” and “Lift U Up” feat. Reese & Chappell, after which Steve Angello scooped up “Traffic” and “Snitch” for release on his Size Records label.

In addition, Sunnery and Ryan also made several remixes for the likes of Sander Kleinenberg (“This Is Our Night”), Kaskade (“Dynasty”) and Diplo ft. Busta Rhymes (“C’mon”). Last year, Sunnery and Ryan debuted at the prestigious Sensation event and played at Pacha Ibiza alongside Swedish House Mafia. This month, they released a fresh and happy progressive-meets-tech house track called “We Are” on Mixmash records, on June 16th.

It has been two months since the duo played Pacha NYC, closing for Avicii on April 23rd. Since that night, we’ve been hoping and praying for them to return to the city. Our prayers have been answered, two-fold. Sunnery and Ryan return to NYC this Thursday night at LAVO, and are also scheduled to perform at Electric Zoo this September on Governor’s Island. We couldn’t be more excited about these two performances.

Their energy level in the booth adds to the seamless flow of the music they play in their sets. As my fellow EDMNYC team member Spencer Callahan says, “Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano tell a story with their set—you can feel what they’re trying to tell you through the beats.”

I highly recommend you get a copy of the Amazone Project, mixed by Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Disc 2 is my personal favorite. I hope to see everyone fall in love with this amazing duo like I did because you will love what you hear.
