Review: Dada & Mimosa. Top 5 Memorable Moments of Day 2 at Camp Bisco by Jon Sorrentino

After a full night of back to back electro destruction from the young superstar’s Zedd and Porter Robinson, everyone was anxious for day two of Camp Bisco! The schedule was packed with so many shows and performers that it was insane trying to squeeze all of them in.  It was really hard narrowing this list down to only five because like I said, the schedule was packed.

1. Big Boi was big time late!

Unfortunantley Big Boi was late to his set time! He said on stage that it was due to traffic problems of some sort. Although his fifteen minutes on stage were great, it was really upsetting to everyone at Bisco to see the only rap act on for a very limited amount of time. The vibe during his time on stage was great though, and actually very refreshing to have a change in sound. The crowd really were enjoying themselves, and it was too bad it was short lived.

2. Emancipator & Special Guests

I don’t have a 100% clarification on who the special guests were, but what a broad spectrum of sounds! Emancipator is a really interesting producer who combines lovely melodic sounds over very clean and professional soundings beats. His talent really caught the ears of everyone at Camp Bisco. For his show he invited friends on stage playing live instruments such as guitar, turntables, monomer, and a violin. All together it was really a well orchestrated show considering the depth of sounds present.

3. Amon Tobin ISAM

This was a set that everyone talked about all festival. I never had the chance to see him before Camp Bisco, but from what I heard, this show was bound to be something amazing. Amon Tobin ISAM combines an amazing visual experience with sounds that overwhelm the human body. The stage that is created for his performance is something like an all white Lego/Tetris collection. Inside this construction, Amon Tobin ISAM is in a large cube-like room where he is rarely seen throughout his performance. While he performs, stunning visual effects are projected onto his stage, giving the crowd an amazing picture throughout. There was something truly magical and out of this world during this show.

4. Dada Life

Bring on the Champagne and Bananas please! This was the DJ duo that really made me come to Camp Bisco! Listening to every podcast putout so far, and repeatedly playing their tracks, I was ready for some Dada! As I arrived to the tent they were set to play at, Dada was having problems with some equipment confusion that worried them a little bit. Thankfully the crew at the B.I.G. tent took care of them and the lights dimmed as Dada took the stage! The next think I knew, the words DADA LIFE were inflating on both sides of the DJ duo! What a creative and elaborate addition to such an ear rocking night of electro! Dada Life really kicked out the epic mother fucker on this one. After the show, Stefano from the duo ran to the front of the crowd to hand out some hugs and high-fives to his loving fans! Bringing the white noise (minus red meat) and showing love to the crowd, Dada gets my plus 1!

5. Mimosa

After two days of camping out, walking through dust clouds, and forgetting to shower, you would think the word swag would never come up, right? Wrong! Never during Camp Bisco was there ever so much swag on stage! Mimosa, came to close Camp Bisco Day 2 in style, bringing out some of the craziest sounding music ever! His style or genre of music is being described as TRAP, which I think is a combination of techno and rap, combining rap lyrics/hip hop beats. This sound makes for such a high energy performance, one that I will surely never forget! Mimosa is up there with some of my favorites for Camp Bisco, but definitely made day two completely awesome for me!
